How to get the hair color you want

Everyone has been to the hair stylist and you sit down and talk for maybe a minute and then they start working on your hair.

Uhhhhh wait, what are we doing again?!

You never want to have that question running through your head. Especially during a time you need to be relaxing.

I’ve put together some tips on how to have the BEST color consultation with your stylist to get exactly what you want.

  • Ask as many questions as you can2015-Hair-Color-Trends-Picture
You are allowed to have questions. When you sit in our chair, that is your time. You are paying for a service and you deserve to be heard. AMEN.
  • Have two pictures.
Use pictures! When you show a stylist a picture we aren’t looking at the way the hair is styled (curled or straight). We focus on tones, dimension and technique. When you only have one picture it’s hard to decide on those things and to many pictures have us asking too many questions. Ask yourself What do I like different about each picture and that’s what you should tell your stylist!
  • Use food
Use words like butter, vanilla, chocolate, cherry and honey. Simple, everyone loves food!
  • Talk about maintenance
You don’t want your stylist giving you a great amazing color that you can’t keep up best_summer_hair_color_trends_2015on the maintenance. Some amazing hairstyles need the upkeep of every 3 weeks. Yeahhh no. For me as a new momma I needed more like 8 to 10 weeks.
  • How long is the process
Clients don’t realize that to get to a beautiful end result you might have to have a couple of visit’s to the salon. Ask your stylist about the process. You are investing in your hair and in yourself you don’t want to take short cuts.
  • WHATS ON YOUR HAIR!?
This may be the most important. There is a science behind hair color. There may be some color on your hair that might affect the current style you’re going for. Let the stylist know whether you’ve used box color, henna, any kind of metallic color. Also how long it’s been since you’ve colored last. Most color is permanent so you may think it fades or has washed out but it definitely hasn’t. If your hair is 12 in long, color from 2 years ago my still be on it.
Using these tips will help you and your stylist achieve your perfect color!!
